  1. Double Chocolate Brownie Batter Cookies

    May 8, 2013 by Holly

If you're anything like me, no amount of chocolate will ever be enough. Sure, I can practice self restraint when it comes to chocolate and desserts. But the question always arises, why? Why should I give up the sweet treat sitting right in front of me? Everything in moderation is okay. Right? And hey, maybe my definition of moderation is a far cry from yours. You say potato, I say patahto. But I digress. Chocolate is delicious and should always be included in baked goods. I mean, do it in the Read more [...]

  2. Stuffed Cookies: The Nutella, Sea Salt & Browned Butter Kind

    February 12, 2013 by Holly

Oy, I can't believe it's been so long since I've put up a post. I take pictures of pretty much EVERYTHING I bake & then my poor phone has to lug them around until I manage to get to them. Sorry iPhone, I'll be kinder in this new year, I promise. So, something you may not know about me is that I am UBER competitive. I've played soccer all my life and it may be the one place you'll ever see me be a complete wench. Seriously. I am terrified of confrontation in real life, but get me on the soccer Read more [...]

  3. Holiday Cookie Demo: Peanut Butter Blossoms

    December 3, 2012 by Holly

I absolutely hate public speaking. It's truly painful for me. With that in mind, I have the good fortune of participating in a company-wide Toastmasters' club. I know, it doesn't make sense, but wait, doesn't it? What's the best way to get over your fear or loathing of something? Do it all the time? Apparently. It just so happens that my nearly year of lunch time speaking (with friends) offered me the opportunity to give a speech last week. And with the Christmas season upon us, I couldn't ignore Read more [...]

All hail the weekend before Thanksgiving! Dare I say it is ALMOST as wonderful as Thanksgiving itself? No, that's blasphemy. But in all fairness, it is pretty awesome. It is the perfect excuse/time to try out your new Turkey Day recipes before the big day without fear of  totally flopping and having to buy something from the store at the last minute. STORE bought pumpkin pie? Cookies? Stuffing? Well I never... In light of the upcoming holiday, I was dying for a reason to make something pumpkiny. Read more [...]

  5. Whole Wheat Pumpkin Cookies

    May 1, 2012 by Holly

I love the Fall. It's great for campfires, long runs, and anything and everything pumpkin! Fortunately for me, I don't have to wait for October to indulge in pumpkin every now and again. I had the craving for pumpkin a few weeks ago and decided to try to whip up a healthier version of my mom's fabulous pumpkin cookies. I can't lie, healthier doesn't always mean better, but the result was fantastic! (Don't worry mom, yours will always be the winner). INGREDIENTS: 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce 1 Read more [...]

  6. Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

    February 20, 2012 by Holly

I purchased my very first scale today. Sure, my parents had one at their house when I was growing up, but as an adult woman, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't obsess over a number on a scale. Setting it up, I had a moment of panic. What if this calorie counting thing hasn't been working? What if I step on the scale and I haven't lost anything? Or worse, what if I've GAINED weight?! But after stepping on the scale, I was suddenly thrilled. I think I must be getting the hang of this calorie Read more [...]
