  2. Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

    February 20, 2012 by Holly

I purchased my very first scale today. Sure, my parents had one at their house when I was growing up, but as an adult woman, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't obsess over a number on a scale. Setting it up, I had a moment of panic. What if this calorie counting thing hasn't been working? What if I step on the scale and I haven't lost anything? Or worse, what if I've GAINED weight?! But after stepping on the scale, I was suddenly thrilled. I think I must be getting the hang of this calorie Read more [...]

  3. Peanut Butter Banana Bread

    February 16, 2012 by Holly

I'm in a living nightmare. A nightmare known as calorie counting. Anything I even THINK about eating is googled for calories before I even reach for it. Anyone who has ever done this knows exactly what I'm talking about. On Valentine's Day I had a moment of weakness and considered eating a Hershey kiss, only to discover each kiss contains TWENTY-TWO calories. I'm not wasting 22 hard-earned calories on a piece of chocolate that I'll taste for thirty seconds. This gig is a vicious cycle and I don't Read more [...]

  5. Skinny Red Velvet Cupcakes

    February 14, 2012 by Holly

I have a seriously unhealthy relationship with cupcakes. I call cupcakes all the time and they never call me back. I love and adore them and how do they repay me?  Throw off my healthy eating habits and, at times, even stick me with a few unwanted pounds. This one-sided relationship has to stop. What have cupcakes ever done for me? Sure, they've provided an abrupt sugar high and some kind of pseudo comfort on the occasion that I'm feeling a tad depressed, but what else cupcakes, WHAT else?! I've Read more [...]

  6. Peanut Butter Cup Ball

    February 14, 2012 by Holly

As a woman, I feel like it is impossible not to have a small obsession with anything and everything that combines chocolate and peanut butter. I like the two parts individually, but the taste of them together is sheer bliss. Knowing what you know now (maybe more than you wanted to know) you wouldn't be surprised to know that I pin, dog ear, email and scribble down every recipe I come across that combines these two treats. So when the idea for a peanut butter ball fell across my lap, I was useless Read more [...]

  7. Low-Fat Lemon Zucchini Bread

    February 14, 2012 by Holly

I have a picky eater in my household. He's 26-going-on-27 and he refuses to eat my baked goods. (I know, he could be a REAL picky eater and not want to eat ANYTHING, but I bake and I bake A LOT, so to me this is an annoying problem). I love baking and to be honest I think everything I make is fabulous. I am biased of course, so sometimes it's hard to know how things actually turn out if he refuses to try them. So I've started to healthy bake. I KNOW, I KNOW, it feels like I'm breaking the cardinal Read more [...]

  8. Cinnamon Toast Cupcakes

    February 14, 2012 by Holly

I have a confession: I'm obsessed with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I love everything about it: the sweetness, the crunch and even the half-soggy, half-crunchy taste you get after it's been sitting in milk. So it's no surprise when I came across this recipe I HAD to try it. I must admit that I was a tad weary of the recipe at first. How is it even possible to recreate the perfection that is Cinnamon Toast Crunch? BUT I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Ingredients: Cinnamon Cake: 3 eggs 1/3 Read more [...]

  9. And so it begins.

I'm just a girl. A girl who loves to bake, loves to laugh and loves soccer. Okay, maybe I'm not that simple, but it's fun to pretend right? I'm a tad strange, but I'm not afraid to share it with the world. So that's what you'll find here. My oddities. My baking recipes. My crafting. My deepest inner thoughts. Well, maybe not my deepest, but I'll be happy to share some daily life thoughts from time to time. I just want to put my baking to better use than just expanding the people in my life's waistline.
